Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 4 : Kimetsu no Yaiba

The story continues from episode 3, where Tanjiro has trained for two years under Sakonji Urokodaki, a former demon slayer and master of water breathing techniques. He has learned how to use a sword called a Nichirin Blade, which can kill demons by cutting their necks. He has also learned how to sense the smell of demons and their blood.

Now, he is ready to take the Final Selection, a test that all demon slayers must pass in order to join the Demon Slayer Corps. The test is held on a mountain where many demons have been captured and imprisoned by the demon slayers. The test lasts for seven days and nights, and the participants must survive by fighting the demons. Only those who are alive at the end of the test will become official demon slayers.

The test begins and Tanjiro enters the forest where the demons are lurking. He soon encounters his first demon, a huge creature with multiple arms that can regenerate its wounds. Tanjiro uses his water breathing techniques and his sword to fight the demon, but he finds it hard to cut its neck. He remembers Urokodaki’s teachings and realizes that he has to find the demon’s weak spot by smelling its blood.

He manages to cut off one of the demon’s arms and smells its blood flow. He follows the scent and finds the demon’s weak spot: a scar on its neck that was made by Urokodaki’s sword. He slashes the scar with his sword and kills the demon.

He then hears another demon nearby and runs towards it. He sees Sabito fighting a demon that has a hand-shaped mouth on its head. Sabito tells Tanjiro to stay back and let him handle it. He says that he has been waiting for this demon for a long time, because it is the one that killed him and Makomo during their Final Selection six years ago.

Sabito attacks the demon with his sword, but he is unable to cut its neck. The demon mocks him and says that he is weak and useless. Sabito gets angry and says that he will not let anyone else die because of this demon. He tells Tanjiro to watch carefully and learn from him.

He then unleashes his ultimate technique: Water Breathing Eleventh Form: Dead Calm. He creates a sphere of water around himself and the demon, cutting off all sound and smell. He then slashes the demon’s neck with his sword, breaking it in half.
