In episode 5, Tanjiro and three other boys have just finished a very hard test to become demon slayers. They had to survive for seven days in a forest full of demons. Only four challengers made it out alive.
They meet some people who work for the demon slayer corps, an organization that has been hunting demons for a long time. They give them new clothes, swords and birds that can talk and deliver messages .
Tanjiro has to choose the metal for his sword from a pile of rocks. He picks one that smells good to him, because he has a very good sense of smell.
Tanjiro also knows a little about the other boys who passed the test with him.
One of them is named Zenitsu, who is very scared and nervous all the time.
Another one is named Inosuke, who is very wild and aggressive. He wears a boar’s head as a mask and likes to fight with everyone.
The last one is named Genya, who is very quiet and charm. She doesn’t talk much and doesn’t seem to like anyone .
Tanjiro went home. Soon after, she noticed that Nezuko had finally awakened from her long slumber, and she shed tears of emotion.
He also meets a strange man named Haganezuka who makes his sword for him. And finally black crow from demon slayer corp delivers Tanjiro's first mission as a demon slayer
